King James Version

  1. 33And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
  2. 34And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
  3. 35And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.
  4. 36And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.
  5. 37And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.
  6. 38And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
  7. 39And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.
  8. 1And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.
  9. 2And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.
  10. 3And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?
  11. 4And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.
  12. 5And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.
  13. 6And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

  3. 35And some of the standers by hearing, said: Behold he calleth Elias.
  4. 36And one running and filling a sponge with vinegar and putting it upon a reed, gave him to drink, saying: Stay, let us see if Elias come to take him down.
  5. 37And Jesus, having cried out with a loud voice, gave up the ghost.

  7. 39And the centurion who stood over against him, seeing that crying out in this manner he had given up the ghost, said: Indeed this man was the son of God.
  8. 1And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalen and Mary the mother of James and Salome bought sweet spices, that coming, they might anoint Jesus.
  9. 2And very early in the morning, the first day of the week, they come to the sepulchre, the sun being now risen.
  10. 3And they said one to another: Who shall roll us back the stone from the door of the sepulchre?
  11. 4And looking, they saw the stone rolled back. For it was very great.
  12. 5And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed with a white robe: and they were astonished.
  13. 6Who saith to them: Be not affrighted; you seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen: he is not here. Behold the place where they laid him.
